How to choose the right CNC laser cutting machine?

How to choose a suitable CNC laser cutting machine? The point is, you need to know how much power needed for processing first of all. Each model machine has a relative cutting thickness and speed itself. For details refer to Figure 1 as following:

Is it possible to cut thinner steel with high power? Would it be better? Let’s take 3000W laser cutting machine and 6000W laser cutting machine for example, comparing their the processing speed and processing cost. The experiment uses the air as auxiliary cutting gas.

The machine used for testing is BLMA CNC fiber laser cutting machine, with good cutting quality and high cutting accuracy advantages.

The cutting speed test shows that 6KW laser cutter speed is 25% to 282% faster than 3KW laser cutter while cutting carbon steel; 6KW fiber laser cutter speed is 50% to 200% faster than 3KW fiber laser cutter while cutting stainless steel; and 6KW laser cutting machine speed is 75% to 400% faster than 3KW laser cutting machine while cutting aluminum.

From the test of cutting costs, 6KW laser cutting machine cost is 30% to 50% less than 3KW laser cutting machine while cutting carbon steel; 6KW laser cutter cost is 25% to 60% less than 3KW laser cutter while cutting stainless steel; and 6KW fiber laser cutter cost is 50% to 70% less than 3KW fiber laser cutter while cutting aluminum.


In terms of overall economic efficiency, though the price of a 6KW laser cutting device is 50% to 80% higher than that of a 3KW laser cutting device, the production efficiency of 6KW laser cutting device is several times higher than that of a 3KW laser cutting device. Moreover, the processing costs decrease more than half compared with the 3KW machine as well, which greatly contributes to reducing the machining time and costs of individual products. Hence, if bugets permits, it is better to choose a 6KW laser cutting equipment in view of processing efficiency.
