What Is a Tandem Press Brake?

A tandem press brake is a heavy-duty sheet metal bending system that combines two CNC press brakes working in synchronized operation to bend extra-long, large and heavy workpieces with high accuracy.

Compared with a standard single press brake, a tandem CNC press brake provides a much longer bending length while maintaining stable ram synchronization and consistent bending angles across the entire workpiece. Depending on production requirements, the two machines can typically operate together as one synchronized bending system or independently as separate press brakes, providing greater manufacturing flexibility.

BLMA tandem press brakes are suitable for processing long steel plates, heavy sheet metal components, poles, structural parts, large machinery components and other oversized workpieces used in industries such as steel fabrication, shipbuilding, construction machinery, energy equipment and transportation manufacturing.

With customizable tonnage, bending length, CNC control systems, backgauges, tooling, crowning systems and material support solutions, BLMA can provide a tandem press brake configuration based on the customer’s material thickness, workpiece dimensions and bending requirements.
