Installation of CNC Laser Metal Cutting Machine

The installation of the laser metal cutting machine is very important for every factory, so please read the following detailed information before the operation.



Notes for unpacking while receiving the machine

Please follow the instructions outside the box to open the wooden box to avoid damaging the CNC laser metal cutting machine in the box. Do not use sharp objects to open the protective film to avoid scratches on the surface of the equipment and damage to the electrical protection installation of the pipeline.


Check content

A) After opening the package, please confirm that this is the fiber laser metal cutting machine you purchased.

B) Check whether the laser cutting machine is damaged during transportation.

C) Check the list to confirm whether the parts are complete and damaged.

D) If the model of the laser metal cutting machine does not match, the accessories are missing or the transportation is damaged, please contact the seller.


Installation environment requirements

Please refer to the factory basic drawing for the installation and fixing of the CNC metal laser cutter, and transport it according to the lifting position. Ask a professional electrician to carry out the power distribution and wiring according to the requirements, and the machine must not be damaged during installation and fixing.


A) Ground requirements:

1) The installation foundation of the equipment is required to be flat, and the height difference within the range of the laser, bed, and worktable shall not exceed 10mm. The slightly uneven place must be leveled by adjusting the horn.

2) The thickness of concrete on the entire installation surface of the bed and workbench feet shall not be less than 200mm. The compressive strength shall not be less than 30N/mm2. The load is greater than 30KN/m2.

3) The entire installation surface of the fuselage must be within the range of each bearing point and consist of a continuous bottom plate with a smooth surface. Do not allow the laser beam to be the wandering range on the lens is more than 0.5 mm.


B) Environmental requirements:

1) Ambient temperature

When the equipment is running, the ambient temperature must be between +10°C and +43°C. When the equipment is turned off, the ambient temperature of the installation site must not drop below +4°C.

Tip: Avoid thermal deformation caused by direct sunlight on one side and wind on one side (For example, blinds can be installed in the window position to avoid these situations).

2) Air

In order not to affect the emission-quality too much, it is necessary to ensure that the laser installation site does not have particles or substances that can absorb rays with a wavelength of 1.06Lm. These are, for example, solvent-containing vapors emitted during painting, or vapors emitted from degreasing equipment.

3) Laser heat-resistant device

When the ambient temperature is +35°C to +43°C, the equipment must be equipped with laser heat-resistant devices (such as air conditioners, etc.).

4) Cooling of the control system

The cooling of the control system is completed by the internal air circulation enclosed in the control system housing. This ensures that the components are not contaminated by dust and dirt to the greatest extent. A humid room is not suitable for the operation of the control system, because especially the contactors and relay contacts will corrode, which will cause the control system to malfunction.

Installation method and precautions

Install and fix the CNC laser metal cutting machine according to the factory basic drawing, and install it in accordance with our recommended layout, installation, and fixing principles, and not damage the laser cutting machine.


Debugging method and related instructions

The debugging of the machine requires professional personnel and must be carried out in strict accordance with relevant regulations. Please read the performance of the fiber laser cutting machine and read the relevant random technical information before use. Correct debugging is to ensure the normal operation of the machine.


Gas connection

A) Connection of auxiliary gas

According to the different cutting materials, different cutting gases are selected for the plate. The choice of cutting gas and pressure has a great influence on the quality of laser cutting. The main function of cutting gas is to burn and dissipate heat, to blow away welding stains in time, to prevent the stains from cutting upwards into the nozzle, and to protect the focusing lens.

2) Cutting gas consumption

The variables related to cutting gas consumption are as follows:

The following lists the consumption during standard pressure cutting and high-pressure cutting so that the required cutting gas consumption can be estimated approximately. The data accumulation of the machine tool can be used to make different estimates for the determined material variety and material thickness.

Standard pressure cutting: Standard pressure cutting means that the pressure at the nozzle outlet is less than cutting at 6 bar. Oxygen or nitrogen is required as cutting gas. When using oxygen for standard pressure cutting, the available flow pressure at the machine connection is at least 8 bar.

High-pressure cutting: High-pressure cutting refers to cutting where the pressure at the nozzle is greater than 6 bar. Generally, nitrogen is used as the cutting gas, and oxygen is also used in a few cases. High-pressure cutting is provided as an option for machining stainless steel and aluminum alloy profiles.


The cutting gas should be high-quality gas produced by a regular company. A single gas cylinder supply is suitable for the processing of oxygen cutting carbon steel. The combined gas storage cylinder or gas storage tank is suitable for high-pressure nitrogen cutting of stainless steel or aluminum plates. Choosing liquid gas storage tanks according to processing conditions is the most concise and economical gas supply method. The installation of high-pressure gas pipelines requires professional installers. The first installation should be exhausted to ensure that the pipeline is clean before being connected to the machine tool.

Use the correct method to connect the gas in the cylinder to the machine tool. Unscrew the connecting valve of the gas cylinder gradually, and check the gas path to ensure that the gas path is sealed. The compressed air of the air compressor must pass through the air cleaner, filter, refrigeration dryer, precision filter, and other equipment before it can be connected to the machine tool.


Never use up the cylinder completely. When returning the cylinder, the residual pressure in the cylinder must be at least one atmosphere higher than the air pressure. When the laser gas pressure is low, the laser cutting machine operation terminal will alarm. 


Installation and debugging of chiller

Pressure: minimum 1.5kgf/cm2, maximum 3kgf/cm2.

The pressure difference between inlet and outlet water: at least 2kgf/cm2 or more.

Temperature control range: 20±2°---22±2°.

Cooling water: pure water without minerals, distilled water, or deionized water (mineral water is prohibited).

Valves and pipes: All stainless steel or high-pressure hoses, galvanized materials cannot be used, and stainless steel clamps for pipe joints.

External laser water pipe: dedicated water pipe for fiber laser (included with the laser). If the length of the pipe of the chiller exceeds 10 meters, increase the pipe diameter, and ensure the pressure difference required by the laser. Different types of lasers have different tube connection specifications and dimensions.

Other cooling water pipes: pay attention to the sealing at the pipe joints.


Electrical connection

a) Power requirements: 220V/380V, 50Hz, please refer to the laser manual for the electrical connection of the laser

b) Read the electrical schematic diagram of the machine in detail; connect according to the power wiring diagram of the laser cutting machine.

C) Check whether the action of the main power circuit breaker and each sub power circuit breaker is sensitive.

d) Check whether the power wiring of the equipment is correct, see the power wiring diagram for details.

e) Check that the main power supply MCB and sub-power MCB (such as the main engine, laser machine, air compressor, etc.) must meet the capacity indicated on the drawing.

f) The wire diameter of power wire, ground wire, and neutral wire shall not be less than the wire diameter on the power wiring diagram.

g) Check whether the ground wire of the power cord is well connected.

h) Check whether all strong current wire terminals (especially the input and output points of the power transformer) are reliable and firm and whether all plugs and plug-in boards are connected reliably.

NOTE: The ground wire of the power cord must be reliably grounded. Otherwise, the signal in the electrical cabinet of the machine tool will interfere and it will cause danger in case of leakage.


Installation of optical lens

1) Before installing the optical lens, pay attention: wear clean clothes, clean your hands with soap or detergent, and wear light and clean white gloves. It is strictly forbidden to touch the lens with any part of the hand. When taking the lens, take it from the side of the lens and do not directly touch the coating surface of the lens.

2) When assembling the lens, do not blow into the lens with your mouth. The lens should be placed steadily on a clean table with a few professional lens papers underneath. Take care of the lens as much as possible to prevent bumps and falls, and do not apply any force on the coating surface of the lens. The lens holder where the lens is installed should be clean. Use a clean air spray gun to clean the dust and dirt in the lens holder, and then gently put the lens into the lens holder.

3) When the lens is installed on the lens holder, do not use too much force to fix the lens, so as not to deform the lens and affect the quality of the beam.

Installation note

1. It is forbidden to touch the lens directly with your hands.

2. The front and back of the lens should be distinguished.

3. Use special tools to disassemble and assemble the lens.
